As the co-chair of the Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) team for Lincoln Southeast High School, I was put in charge of building an assessment that would help to gauge staff understanding of PBIS concepts as well as possible directions to pursue. As a Strategic Leader, it is important to use assessments to gather data so that the committee can make the correct decisions based on what the data indicates. Data gathered from the assessment gave the committee insight into what information needed to be delivered to help the staff continue to be successful at implementing PBIS into their classrooms.

As an Educational Leader, it is important to know why the strategies implemented were affective or ineffective. Reeves Leadership for Learning Framework helps to put a visual with data collected to determine the success or failure as well as the likelihood or unlikelihood of repeating the success or failure. The Reeves Leadership for Learning Framework ties into Instructional Leadership by allowing teachers and administrators a framework to assess a variety of student interventions all at once. As a leader it is important to find tools such as the Reeves Leadership for Learning Framework because knowing the likelihood or unlikelihood of repeating the success or failure of a strategy saves administrators, teachers, and students valuable time and effort.
